Demonstration Projects to Ensure Students With Disabilities Receive a Quality Higher Education supports technical assistance and professional development activities for faculty and administrators in institutions of higher education to improve their ability to provide a quality postsecondary education for students with disabilities. The program is authorized under Title VII, Part D of the Higher Education Amendments of 1998.

Grantees in the program will develop innovative, effective, and efficient teaching methods and other strategies to enhance the skills and abilities of postsecondary faculty and administrators in working with disabled students. Activities include, but are not limited to:

  • In-service training
  • Professional development
  • Customized and general technical assistance workshops
  • Summer institutes
  • Distance learning
  • Training in the use of assistive and educational technology
  • Synthesizing research related to postsecondary students with disabilities

Grantees will also disseminate information from their grant activities to other institutions of higher education.
